The progressive populating of the territory, which we occupy today, came late if one compares it with populating the Americas.  According to the most plausible hypothesis, some 40,000 years ago, North America was in the Ice Age, thus favouring the populating of the Americas since the continents were covered by ice in the northern latitudes.  Eastern Canada, as we know it today, was covered entirely with ice.
