Importance of the location
The Tadoussac trading post opened its doors in 1600, but the First Nations had already stopped there for a long time for trading and meetings. The potential of trapping in the territories on the Tadoussac axis was considerable and sea-going ships quickly recognised the location as very interesting for the establishment of a trading post to respond to the increasing demand for furs. The Tadoussac trading post closed its doors in 1652.
