The crooked knife
For the Pekuakamiulnuatsh as for all of the Innu, the crooked knife was the work instrument ‘par excellence’. Indispensable, it was used for cutting the strips of wood for toboggans, the frames for snowshoes, paddles, snow shovels, frameworks for canoes, etc. It was also used for sculpting spoons, ladles and wooden bowls. In short, its use was widespread. Even today, the crooked knife remains a tool greatly appreciated which, despite the uniqueness of the model, is handed down from father to son.
