Among the very interesting techniques which belong notably to the heritage of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh, one can be assured that nibbling birch bark remains a fundamental element.

Folded in two or four, according to need, a thin layer of birch bark is worked, with the teeth, in order to create symmetrical motifs.  The nipping of the birch bark between two teeth has the peculiarity of marking both sides of the bark, and this technique was at the origin of all of the symmetrical designs that can be found in the history of decoration by the Pekuakamiulnuatsh.

Nowadays this almost forgotten practice, has been revived by Mrs. Telesh Bégin who manipulates the bark with excellent dexterity.
