The Ashuapmushuan river
For us, the Ashuapmushuan river basin always represented an important part of our territory. It counts among the most important tributaries of the Pekuakami, and is located directly on the fur route. It is a navigable route connecting the Saguenay to James Bay, from where it gets its great commercial value. Today, the territories along the Ashuapmushuan River are divided into many parcels identified with many families of the community, who practise their seasonal activities there. Most of the territories along this river today are part of a wildlife reserve carrying the Ashuapmushuan name that is managed by the Société des Établissements de Plein Air du Québec (SÉPAQ).
Length of the river : 191 km
