Geographic location

The Péribonka River and its basin represent the greatest part of the territory occupied by our families.  It extends north of the Pekuakami, and its basin corresponds with the part of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh territory located further east.  For us, the Péribonka River is, and remains the route of great portages and long sojourns.  At the head of this great river the lake of the same name is found.  On this river, there are at least four dams to retain water for the production of electricity, of which three (3) are owned by Alcan, and the fourth, the newest, is under construction by Hydro-Quebec in collaboration with the Pekuakamiulnuatsh.
