Hydro Ilnu

More recently, at the end of the 1980’s, the Quebec Government authorised the construction of mini-power-stations, where electricity production did not exceed 10 MW.  In the analysis of its eventual involvement in hydroelectric development, the Council of the Montagnais of Lac-Saint-Jean created Piekuakami Ilnuatsh Development; a society which will create, for its part, Hydro Ilnu that would study the potential of rivers for the development of «on stream» hydroelectric projects.  So far, Hydro Ilnu manages the Minashtuk mini-power-station located on the Mistassibi River, property of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh and the first project of size concerning hydroelectricity for the nation.
